About me 

Before being a paid teacher I had an extensive background in customer service for a Fortune 500 company. While employed I volunteered as a preschool teacher at church beginning in 2008. I began working in a licensed early childhood classroom in 2015. I have been recently employed by one of the best early childhood programs with Open Door School in Charlotte NC. I worked under the director Sheila Lockear and was mentored by some of the most educated and passionate early childhood educators. During Covid I homeschooled my 3 school aged children and provided a remote learning environment for children in my community. I have an associates degree in early childhood education,  early childhood administrator I and II credentials, and infant toddler and twos credentials. My home has been cleared by zoning, health and sanitation, and approved to run a childcare business out of my home. I am a proud member of the National Domestic Workers Alliance where I have previous and are currently holding lead membership positions on a local and National level. I am an active participant in We Dream in Black, a chapter with the NDWA. Wedib empowers black childcare, home care, and house cleaners to fight to provide better work conditions for their work places. I actively communicate my cares and needs with the NC general assembly, NCDHHS, NCDCDEE, and other entities that affect the work I do. I lead my community and provide a safe place for the children on my street. I have been recognized as the ACA scholarship student of the year in 2012, Student of excellence in 2017, Community Ambassador by the Episcopal church in 2018, Alumni honors student 2020, and numerous awards and certifications within the NDWA from 2018 - 2022. I have birthed 6 children of my own and lead in my home church’s children's ministry at Flowing Life Outreach Center. As a mother and wife I gather with many women and discuss effective ways to teach and parent. I have a huge circle of supporters and mentors that I can count on for Godly wisdom and knowledge in early childhood education.
